According to reports, on the same day, his killer visited the Beatles, who was signing autographs for his fans on the street.

That night, Chapman shot and wounded Lennon four times and remained behind bars despite applying for parole 12 times.

When she returned home after a morning run, the fashion icon was confronted and shot by spree killer Andrew Cunanan.

Cunanan killed five people over a three-month period between April 27 and July 15, 1997, and his victims included prominent real estate developer Lee Miglin.

When he was targeted by Miami police after Versace’s death, the killer committed suicide eight days later inside a Miami Beach boathouse.

After writing numerous letters to the actress and trying to see her on set, he showed up at her apartment on July 18, 1989 and shot her in the chest.

The actor, who also appeared in several films – including scenes of class struggle in Beverly Hills – tragically died later in hospital.

His death led to the passage of a California law aimed at preventing prosecution.

Darrell Lance Abbott (aka Dimebag Darrell), often regarded as one of the greatest heavy metal musicians of all time, was tragically killed live on stage by a crazed fan.

Abbott was the guitarist for the heavy metal bands Pantera and Damageplan, both of which he co-founded with his brother Vinnie Paul.

On December 8, 2004, the guitarist was performing with Damageplan at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio, when crazed fan Nathan Gale shot him five times, two at point blank range.

At the time, it was reported that Gayle had blamed Abbott for Pantera’s breakup, even claiming that the musician had stolen songs he had written for the band.

That night, three people were shot and killed in horrific scenes before a police officer shot Gill in the head.

His other victims included the group’s head of security, Jeffrey Thompson, who tried to confront Gayle, a fan named Nathan Barry, who tried to help the two men, and gym employee Erin Halk, who tried to kill Gayle in Disarm during reload.

Infatuated superfan Kevin James Loibel, who was a 27-year-old from St. Petersburg, Florida, shot him three times and killed himself a short time later.

Grimmie’s brother Marcus, who was present at the event, tried to tackle the gunman, but sadly he was pronounced dead hours later.

However, while mistakes happen every day in football, Colombian footballer Andres Escobar paid for it with his life.

After being World Cup contenders in 1994, Colombia lost to the United States in a shock 2-1 upset after defender Escobar scored an own goal.

On July 2, 1994, 10 days after the match that eliminated the team, Escobar was shot and killed.

The soccer player was partying with friends at the El Indio restaurant in Medellin when three assailants began taunting him about the way he was performing in the match, and Escobar was killed 45 minutes later after being shot 12 times.

Ironically, Escobar had tried to promote a more positive image of Colombia, but his murder tarnished the country’s reputation – especially after reports that Colombian authorities believed drug traffickers had won the game. He has been marked for death.

Her killer, Humberto Munoz Castro, was sentenced to 42 years in prison but was released after only 11 years, according to Fox News.
