Fourth time is a charm – The Tribune

Wizardfest returns to Ironton in November

Rejoice, Potterheads, the Wizarding Festival returns to Ironton on November 12-13.

This is the fourth year of the Harry Potter fan event, which had to be held in 2020 because state pandemic restrictions prohibited large gatherings of people. But the event returned in 2021 and was more popular than ever.

“Last year was an anomaly, everyone wanted to be out there for the first time,” said Brad Beer, one of the event’s organizers. So, this year it might be a little bit calmer.”

Last year, thousands of fans filled the streets of downtown Ironton. Many had costumes that were good enough to tell who was a fan and who was a professional actor.

While this announcement has been made, many details are still being worked out.

Bear can’t say who the celebrities are yet, as negotiations have not yet been finalized.

“I’m literally in the middle of two emails about it,” he said.

“Take away my emails,” he said with a laugh. I can’t officially say who the celebrities are because I have to wait for the deals to be confirmed. But I will announce them as soon as I can.”

He dropped a vague hint that one of them is a guest, which I think everyone is going to be excited about because you see them in all eight movies and they’re big characters. I will announce it as soon as I can.”

Among the returning favorites, the Cos-Ohana and Bear gaming group said they are working on new performance ideas for Wizardfest, the LEGO User Group Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana are bringing back their big Harry Potter displays downtown and HP Ohio. The group will return with their stage show in the theater.

Of course, Weasley’s flying Ford Anglia, Barker Farm’s exotic animals, and Gary Bossa, aka Dr. Des Caveries, will bring their collection of snakes, lizards, turtles, and other creatures.

And the scavenger hunt will return. It promises that great prizes will be given to the winners.

Beer says they’re bringing back other fan-favorite events “with a twist.”

This included adding a second escape room as tickets for the escape room were only selling out so quickly, trying to find a way to increase access to celebrities from the film, and increasing the immersion of guest lecturers from Hogston School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

“And we’ll be adding more,” Beer said. But I still can’t tell you what they are because I don’t even know what they are yet. So it’s a mystery because I don’t have an answer for it yet.”

Even as they work out the details of celebrity appearances and activities, organizers are also selling vendor spots for the event.

“Last year, those spots sold out quickly, and even though we announced this recently, this year’s vendor spots are selling out very quickly. We are almost out of them. “But on August 8, if there’s space left, we’ll open it up to new vendors.”

Tickets are on sale now at https://irontonwizardfest.com/ along with programs and more.
