Eight celebrities you never knew worked in accountancy before finding fame

When it comes to the rich and famous, we only associate them with the roles they are famous for. Musicians were always performing and actors were always portraying characters on the big screen.

However, many of the biggest stars we know today earned multiple degrees and held down 9-5 jobs before making a name for themselves.

And let’s just say that the face of music, performing arts, and sports would be very different today if many of the stars had stayed in the accounting industries they started out in.

With that in mind, the experts at subscription-based learning platform StaySharp have compiled a list of top stars who started their careers in accounting before they rose to fame.

Mick Jagger

Sir Michael Philip Jagger, also known as Mick Jagger, is an English singer, songwriter, actor and film producer. Jagger has achieved international fame as the lead singer and co-founder of the Rolling Stones. However, before Jagger became the legendary frontman of the Rolling Stones, he studied accounting and finance at the London School of Economics on a scholarship. Fortunately for us, the life of an accountant was not for Mr Jagger and he quit after a year of study.

Whoopi Goldberg

Karin Elaine Johnson, stage name Whoopi Goldberg, is an American actress, comedian, writer and television personality. However, before Goldberg became a household name, he had to support himself by working as a bank teller, a bricklayer, and even a beautician at a morgue.

Janet Jackson
